Linux Mint
linuxmint.com ↗Linux Mint is a free desktop operating system, one of the most popular Linux distributions.
Why it’s listed
It suits people moving a home or work computer off Windows or macOS who want a ready-made desktop at no cost.
It's listed because it's free, community-driven and 'used by millions of people', paid for by donations and advertising on its own website1. The current version is 22.3, with a Debian-based edition, LMDE 71, and its Cinnamon desktop was updated today2.
The trade-off
Some Windows or Mac apps won't run on it, so check the ones you rely on first.
