it takes its data straight from the regulators (the Charity Commission source showed 358,722 records, updated 13 October 2026) under open government licences1. It's open source under MIT2, supported by 360Giving and run by Kane Data Ltd1.

It's a small operation built mainly by one person, David Kane, and errors in the data have to be fixed by the regulators themselves1.
