switching.software
switching.software ↗A grassroots list of ethical, easy-to-use alternatives to well-known apps and websites, from Gmail to Photoshop.
Why it’s listed
Written for non-technical readers taking their first steps away from Big Tech.
it's the community fork of switching.social, kept alive after that site's author took it down in September 2019, and since 2025 a project of Datenpunks, a hacker collective in Bielefeld1. It collects no visitor data (no analytics, cookies or trackers) and its content is CC BY-SA 4.01. The source was last changed in August 20262.
The trade-off
It's a small volunteer team, so entries are short and updates come in bursts.
