Online form and survey tools for collecting answers without handing them to an ad company. For a private Google Forms alternative, we look for encryption or ad-free hosting, open-source code and an owner who’s clear about how it’s funded.
Our top picks: Framasoft, a French non-profit running free, ad-free tools since 2004, including Framaforms, all paid for by donations. And CryptPad, whose Forms app sits in an end-to-end encrypted, open-source office suite from France’s XWiki, with free accounts and paid plans from €5 a month.
