Web hosting

Web hosts for websites and WordPress, mostly in the UK and Europe. For ethical web hosting, we check renewable energy claims against the Green Web Foundation’s records and look at who owns the host. Renting servers from a Big Tech cloud is a caveat we name on the card.

Our top picks: Krystal, an independent London host since 2002 and a B Corp since 2023, which says plainly that its power is matched with renewables; plans start at £7 a month and now bundle an AI site builder. And Kualo, a UK host since 2000 with a REGO certificate for its renewable power in Green Web’s directory.

How we choose: we check every host against the 6 principles in our manifesto (who owns it and how it makes money, what it collects, how it treats people, honesty, openness and staying power). Last checked on 13 October 2026.
